Vegan Black Bean Brownies from Minimalist Baker

If I had to pick one website that has the best recipes, it would have to be Minimalist Baker. She is absolutely amazing. I have noticed that my favorite recipes and most successful recipes all come from her. She also has an Instagram, @minimalistbaker that I would suggest following if you like seeing drool-worthy photographs. She even has an awesome cookbook out right now that you can purchase from her website. Anyways, now that I’ve talked her up so much, here’s the Black Bean Brownies. I know it sounds gross, but I promise it’s not. I haven’t altered the recipe, so I’m not going to list the recipe here and take credit for it. I am only going to list the ingredient prices and my photos. So, this is basically a review of her recipe, which definitely deserves 5 stars. You will need to use a food processor or some type of blending device to make this recipe.

  • 1 can black beans $0.59
  • 2 heaping tbsp flax meal $0.25
  • 6 tbsp water Free
  • 3 tbsp vegetable oil $0.10
  • 3/4 cup cocoa powder $1.50
  • 1/4 tsp sea salt $0.01
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract $0.53
  • 1/2 cup sugar $0.15
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder $0.07
  • approximately 1/3 cup walnuts $1.50

Total: $4.70

Cost per serving: $0.40
